Washington, DC — July 31, 2007 — Tidebreak, Inc., a global leader in interactive workspace technologies, was selected to receive the prestigious Campus Technology 2007 Innovator Award for its contribution in enabling a high-tech incubator classroom at San Jose State University (SJSU). The Campus Technology Innovator award program is a highly competitive annual peer-nominated contest, with only 13 projects selected from this year’s total of 338 nominations. A single award is given for each technology product category, and Tidebreak was chosen as a recipient for “High-Tech Learning Spaces.” You can read the Campus Technology magazine feature article, “2007 Campus Technology Innovators: High-Tech Learning Spaces,” here.
Tidebreak CEO Dr. Andrew J. Milne said, “San Jose State University has modeled the kind of learning space innovation that we see other leading institutions embracing. Their project is notable not just for the technologies deployed, but the thoughtful approach they have taken to identifying requirements and assessing outcomes. Tidebreak has been pleased to partner with the University staff and faculty to assist in their work.”
The Incubator Classroom at SJSU used Tidebreak’s software in conjunction with products from AMX, Apple, HP, Polycom, SMART and others. The result is a new form of interactive classroom that will serve as a prototype for future classroom development on SJSU’s Silicon Valley Campus. While the project recognized by Campus Technology included Tidebreak’s TeamSpot software, future implementations of this type will deploy Tidebreak’s new ClassSpot system to enable greater faculty and student engagement in classroom contexts.
